About

Nestled away in his self-constructed cabin in Lagunitas, California, Lief is both artist and architect. Born in 1963 (Ningxia, China), Lief was a renowned up-and-coming artist in the early days of his career. He had garnered national-level awards for his artistic works in the 90's. 1992 marked the year of his personal exhibition at the Beijing National Gallery which won much appraisal from critics, marked by nationwide TV and newspaper outpour that covered the success of the exhibit as well Lief's potential as an oil painter in the early years of China’s growth.

In 2005, Lief had gone on to the Academy of Art in New York, graduating with a Master's Degree in Fine Art-European Oil Painting. Within the same year, Dahesh Museum of Art in New York featured Lief in a published spotlight showcasing his final work as a student within Dahesh Museum’s magazine.
